Hyperthermia treatment can be taken place in two ways. One type of treatment is called as local hyperthermia. In this type, the cancer cells in any part of the body including lung, stomach alone will be destructed using the heat. The next type is called as regional hyperthermia. In this second type, the whole body temperature is increased to a temperature which more than the usual temperature. Both types of the treatments have their own advantages and disadvantages.

In local hyperthermia, the lung cancer cells are destroyed to a great extent since the heat is centered on only the tumor. Therefore it is capable of curing lung cancer in an effective way. But the disadvantage is that, the heat can affect the other cells which are nearby to the cancer affected region. Regional hyperthermia does not kill the cancer cells directly, but it assists the other conventional cancer treatments to function against cancer in a better way. The second type of treatment is also called a whole body hyperthermia since it involves in increasing the whole body temperature.
